My name is Sylvain Lamontagne and I’m an undergrad student in IT Engineering at École de technologie supérieure. Most of the time you can find me (and some other geeks) in the lab A-1716 where you can also make an encounter with an AUV 0_0 !!
Haaa !!! What is an AUV you may ask, Is it some sort of UFO and you guys are all aliens ? Would be cool… but even if it’s disappointing you, I’m born on this planet. In fact AUV stand for “Autonomous Underwater Vehicle” and building one for the AUVSI Competition is our goal. A-1716 is the new “Home” of the SONIA project at ETS, we generally lived there.
Talking about myself… well everything about technology interest me and I’m not thinking only about “technology as in computer” but as a whole. Witch means that I also enjoy domains like Mechanic. My father own a garage I was seven when I got my first motorcycle, an Honda 50cc w/o rear shocks. Later, the Mechanic-Hero that is my father teach me and help me to repair my actual road/dirt bike*. It was a 2 years of work and learning that I greatly appreciated. Living in Montreal now, being at University and working on SONIA give me the possibility to improve myself but I’m eager to return at something more “rural”. To stay sane for my last year at ETS, I decided to bought a GS450l 1984* during the Christmas Holidays.
This summer I’ll be an intern at Novariant Canada, so working on high tech stuff in a rural context will make me happy!
* The image and the reality may have some littles differences… well my GS is blue instead of black.
